My name is Jane and I live in Hampshire with my two children, I was diagnosed with eczema as a baby and suffered all my life with it. I have tried all sorts of treatments, PUVA light treatment, wet wraps, steroid creams, herbal treatments, too many to mention and spent two years in Queen Mary’s hospital for children in Carshalton, all my life in and out of hospital.
When my son was diagnosed with eczema at the age of 12 months, I was devastated and a friend recommended homeopathy, I didn’t want him to suffer like I had, so I made an appointment, the treatment was very successful and after three months it had all cleared never to return again. I was so impressed that I studied Homeopathic Medicine and completed a four year course at The South Downs School of Homeopathy at Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester, which entitled me to practice Homeopathy.
I am now a professional homeopath with a special interests in treating patients with eczema, as a lifelong sufferer myself I can understand their difficulties, and the emotional trauma that often accompanies it.
I intend to write blogs about eczema as there appears to be a need for additional information on how to cope with it. Any information on my blog is intended to help and is a direct experience of my own or from people I have successfully treated. I believe that knowledge is power, and that we should all take responsibility for our health.
Homeopathic treatment is available to everyone, you don’t need a medical referral from your GP, just phone and make an appointment. Homeopathy can be taken as well as conventional treatment or taken on its own. It is important not to suddenly stop steroid treatment, as this can cause a worsening of the eczema, instead patients are encouraged to wean off their steroid creams gradually with the support of their health professional.
Homeopathic consultations are available in person within a 20 mile radius, or via SKYPE for convenience. My charges are Adults £50 per appointment Children (up to 16 years) £30. Please contact me for more information or to make an appointment.

My 6 year old daughter has had eczema all her life. It started as a baby with dry scalp, and it spread to her whole body as she grew. It used to be a lot worse. We went for homeopathic treatment here in Basingstoke, the treatment we were given ended up as two years of absolute hell, with her skin breaking out all over, only allowed to use coconut oil to soothe it. It cleared a bit but out of desperation I turned back to steroid cream. Last summer her skin was clear, but this winter it has been only behind the knees and elbows.
I think it’s connected to allergies, because she uses an inhaler when she’s around pets or dust or mould. When the skin is clear her chest acts up and when the chest is clear the skin breaks out. Do you think she’ll simply grow out of it or us it worth having further treatment?
I’m very sorry to hear about your daughters eczema and your experience.
I would advise not to stop steroids abruptly as this can cause a severe worsening of the eczema, steroids suppress the eczema so stopping abruptly can cause problems. Instead I would advise diluting the steroids down, 25% other cream to 75% steroid and slowly reducing.
I understand this because I was covered from head to toe with severe eczema.
To answer your question, some children grow out of their eczema, normally at age 7 or 14, but with Atopic (allergy) eczema it is unlikely.
You could start by removing the most common allergens from your daughter’s diet/surrounding, such as eggs, dairy, gluten, fish and keeping mould away. But I would strongly advise a new homeopathic treatment.
If you were to book an appointment with me I would take great care to avoid a worsening of your daughter’s eczema as I understand the distress it causes both to you and to your daughter.
Homeopathic treatment has been hugely successful in treating people with asthma and eczema.
